This a-symmetrical triangle shawl was inspired by my good friend’s wildflower garden. I choose a main colour that has a lot of green, with some purple and white to emulate the green foliage, and the little white and purple flowers in the garden. For the wildflowers, I matched the colours of the yarn to the colours of the flowers in the garden. I kept the main colour in stockinette stitch to see the variegation in the yarn and the mini skeins are knit in small lace flowers spread throughout the shawl, like the flowers spread throughout the garden. The pattern is simple and easy to memorize, making it a great knit for those afternoons in the garden.
The name Libellule comes from the French word for Dragonfly (and is her favourite French word). Dragonflies are symbols of strength, courage, and happiness, and are one of the many insects that would be found in wildflower gardens.
This pattern requires 2 100g skeins of a Main Colour and 5 50g mini skeins.
