Details
Cats scamper and pounce along this delightful reversible neckwarmer! The stranded knitting designs feature cats with swishing tails, kitties swatting at balls of yarn, and yarn balls bouncing across the floor, each separated by narrow Fair Isle bands. Beginning with a provisional cast-on, the neckwarmer is knitted seamlessly in one piece on circular needles, folded in half, and grafted with Kitchener’s stitch. While it is single knit, the cowl is reversible and gives the appearance and warmth of double knitting. Reverse the neckwarmer by flipping it inside out.
This is an intermediate level pattern. Knitters should have experience with provisional cast-on, Kitchener’s stitch, and stranded knitting technique, including long carries. They also must be able to follow complex charts. However, there is no shaping, and the cowl construction is very simple. This pattern is sized for the average adult: 8.75” (22cm) height and 22” (56cm) circumference.
The gauge is 30 stitches and 36 rows over 4” (10cm) in stranded stockinette stitch, blocked.
This pattern includes two black and white charts, written instructions, and tutorial notes on the provisional cast-on and Kitchener’s stitch techniques.
