The Blue Arabesque blanket uses the mosaic technique. Even though mosaic crocheting may look very complicated, it really isn't. In reality, it is a surprisingly simple way to create colorful patterns with multiple colors.
A mosaic pattern consists only of single crochets and double crochets. For the border, slip stitches are added. Sounds simple, right!?
In this blanket, all rows are crocheted from right to left. And you attach a new yarn at the beginning of each row. This way, no annoying loops are formed on the back of the blanket. And don't be afraid of all the threads you see forming. These will be hidden between a double border at the end.
Is mosaic crocheting and double borders new to you? No worries. This pattern includes a photo tutorial that explains the mosaic technique step by step.
The blanket I crocheted is approximately 100 x 150 cm. The pattern clearly describes how to adjust this to any desired size. My blanket was crocheted using Novita 7 Veljestä 7 Brothers yarn and a 4.5 and 5 mm crochet hook. But it can be crocheted with any desired yarn.
Below is an overview of the yarn used:
Color A - 7 balls of Ice (14)
Color B - 6 balls of Off White (10)
Color C - 2 balls of Lichen (47)
Color D - 3 balls of Stone (43)
Required skill level: intermediate
