Alpha is a strong and bold cowl that is set apart from the pack and not afraid to make a fashion statement. And a very quick knit with no blocking required!
The bottom edge will stretch out to 50” if you like to wear it across your shoulders instead of as a cowl.
With so many shades of this stunning gradient yarn you can define your look to suit your personality. (Please note that the two outdoor shots portray it as blue/grey but it is grey).
The stitches are simple, the cables are not even real cables but a simpler combination of stitches that produce the effective look of cables, without all the fuss.
The cast off is an I-cord method but you can easily use your preferred cast off.
Abbreviations:
K …………. knit.
P …………. purl
P2tog …… purl next two stitches together thereby decreasing one stitch.
MC3 …….. mock cable, see below.
Mock Cable: MC3
Mock cables are made by following these four steps in the “K3” stitches of the indicated rounds.
Slip the first stitch knitwise (as if to knit) with yarn at the back.
Knit the second stitch.
Bring the yarn forward between the needles as if to purl and then hold it over the right hand needle.Knit the third stitch. (This creates a stitch).
Pass the slipped stitch over the two knit stitches and the yarn that was held over.
