The Sapphire Seas mosaic blanket uses the mosaic technique. Even though mosaic crochet may look very complicated, it certainly is not. In fact, it is a surprisingly simple way to create colorful patterns with multiple colors.
A mosaic pattern consists only of single crochets and double crochets. Half double crochets are added for the border. Sounds simple, right!?
In this blanket, all rows are crocheted from right to left. And you attach a new yarn at the end of each row. This way, no annoying loops are created on the back of the blanket. And don't be afraid of the number of threads that you see forming. They will be hidden at the end between a double border.
Is mosaic crochet and double borders new to you? No problem. This pattern includes a photo tutorial that explains the mosaic technique step by step.
The blanket I crocheted is approximately 100 x 150 cm. The pattern clearly describes how to adjust it to any desired size. My blanket was crocheted with Katia Capri yarn and a 3 and 3.5 mm crochet hook. But it can be crocheted with any desired yarn.
