Details
The Diamond Dazzle blanket uses the mosaic technique. Even though mosaic crochet may look very complicated, it is actually quite simple. It is a surprisingly easy way to create colorful patterns using multiple colors.
A mosaic pattern consists only of single crochets and double crochets. Half double crochets are added for the edging. Sounds simple, right!?
In this blanket, each row is crocheted from right to left. You attach a new yarn at the beginning of each row, so there are no annoying loops on the back of the blanket. Don't be afraid of the number of threads you see forming. They will be hidden in a double border at the end.
If mosaic crochet and double borders are new to you, don't worry. This pattern includes a photo tutorial that explains the mosaic technique step by step.
My blanket is crocheted using Scheepjes Terrazzo yarn and a 4mm and 3.5mm crochet hook. For a blanket measuring 80 x 100 cm, I used 6 balls of Pergamena (745) and 7 balls of Bolle (736). However, you can use any yarn you prefer and adjust the dimensions accordingly.
