Details
I had seen a cute outfit somewhere and this little velvet hat FLEW off my crochet hook when I decided I wanted to make it. The little point on top runs down to a tight edge and a subtle rib at the end. This crochet pattern for a hat is a fun addition to your wardrobe!
I named the design Domovoy Cap - the domovoy is a Slavic house spirit of your ancestors. These spirits protect the family and animals in a house and must be rewarded with gifts to continue receiving their approval and assistance. Bernat Velvet is the recommended yarn for this hat and you need less than half a ball for one Domovoy cap so it's fine to use up scraps. I made the entire hat in single crochet stitches, as this yarn tends to stretch with taller stitches. The end result is a project that looks cute, is soft as butter, and can be made in a day.
I made a few for myself, experimenting and testing to get just the right size and shape, I even made a few smaller versions - modifications for children's sizes are given in the pattern notes.
