The sweet, talented Regina Weiss of Morale Fiber makes such cool things! With the cold days ahead, it's definitely time to crochet cozy hats, scarves, and other warm accessories. This awesome Elf hat is perfect for that! The text below is a literal translation of her pattern, posted with her permission for you.

I think every crocheter has a favorite stitch. One of my favorite crochet techniques is working with relief stitches. This stitch may be a little daunting at first, because you crochet around the stitches rather than into them. However, the result is so cool and stretchy that it's definitely worth learning. By alternating between front and back relief stitches, you get a slightly stretchy fabric with a beautiful ribbed texture. If you crochet it with bulky yarn, you'll get a big, cuddly, soft, and warm garment. I made this small pattern to use up scraps - a funny, pointy hat in small (child) and large (adult) sizes!

Crochet hook: 5 mm (for small size), 6 mm (for large size)
Yarn:
Small - bulky, #5 weight yarn, about 230 meters
Large - super bulky, #6 weight yarn, about 230 meters.

I recommend using 100% acrylic yarn in super bulky. The hat will be very heavy if you make it from wool.
