Details
This is the 'Seaside Stash Busting Blanket' that was organized as a 35-week CAL on the Coastal Crochet website between January and September 2018. It became a worldwide community project with people from over 40 different countries crocheting together on this blanket. The original is made with leftovers (stash busting also means "working through leftovers").
The original pattern is really done as a way to use up leftovers. You can choose yarn randomly, but for the best result, choose yarn that is the same thickness and of the same type. My original blanket had 16 colors, but for this tutorial, I made a blanket with 10 colors, so you will need the following amounts:
- 10 x 100g balls of Stylecraft 'Special DK' yarn (100% acrylic, 295m/323yds), 1 ball per color. I will then name the colors Color A to Color J.
- I used fluffy yarn for the border. 2 x 50g (100% acrylic, 90m/98yds)
- 4mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker, tapestry needle, and scissors.
Required skill level: intermediate
